Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
CleanBreak (“the App”, “we”, “us”) is an independent iOS application published by 802 Software, a sole proprietorship operated by Baris Taskiran and based in Vermont, United States. You can reach us at support@802.software.
2. Our promise in one paragraph
CleanBreak is local-first. Your streak, check-ins, journal entries, drafts you write to “Text the Void,” and the reasons you gave yourself for going no-contact all stay on your device by default and are deleted when you uninstall the App. We never ask for or store your ex's name. We do not embed advertising or tracking SDKs, and we do not sell, rent, or share your data with marketing partners.
3. Data we process
a. Stored on your device only
- Your no-contact streak, start date, and slip history
- Daily check-ins (mood, urge level), the morning pledge, and journal entries
- “Text the Void” drafts — the Void keeps no text, by design
- Your stated reasons for going no-contact
- App preferences, theme, and entitlement/purchase status cache
b. Sent to our AI proxy only when you use Coach, Panic, or the Decoder
CleanBreak runs a small proxy server that holds our OpenAI API key so it never ships inside the App. When you use Coach, Panic, or the Decoder, we send:
- The text you type into that conversation or paste into the Decoder
- Minimal breakup context you explicitly chose to share (e.g. how long you were together) — never your ex's name, and never requested
- An anonymous, randomly generated app identifier — not your name, email, phone number, or contacts
- Your subscription tier (free or Pro), so the proxy can select the appropriate model
That payload is forwarded to OpenAI to generate a reply. It is not used to train OpenAI's models, and we do not retain a copy of your conversation content on our servers beyond what is needed to stream the reply back to your device.
c. Purchases
In-app purchases are processed by Apple and validated through RevenueCat. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app identifier plus your purchase receipt and subscription status so we can unlock Pro features — it does not receive your name or contact information from us.
d. We do not collect
- Your name, email address, or phone number
- Your ex's name — the App never asks for it
- Your contacts or address book
- Advertising identifiers (IDFA) or advertising SDKs
- Behavioral analytics or session-replay tooling
- Location, health, or biometric data
CleanBreak's App Store privacy label reflects this: NSPrivacyTracking is set to false.
4. Why we process this data (legal bases)
For users in the EEA / UK, our legal bases under GDPR are:
- Contract — providing the App and the optional subscription you purchased.
- Legitimate interests — operating the AI proxy securely and preventing abuse.
- Consent — for any AI feature (Coach, Panic, Decoder), which you must actively choose to use.
5. How long we keep data
- On-device data: as long as the App is installed, until you delete it or clear it from Settings.
- AI conversation payloads: not retained on our servers beyond what's needed to generate and stream the reply.
- Purchase events (via RevenueCat): retained for the duration of your subscription plus the period required by Apple and RevenueCat for dispute and refund handling.
- Proxy server logs: kept briefly for abuse prevention and reliability, then rotated.
6. Sub-processors
- OpenAI — generates Coach, Panic, and Decoder replies from the text you send.
- RevenueCat — subscription receipt validation and entitlement state.
- Apple App Store — purchase processing and app distribution.
We do not knowingly transfer your data outside these providers. None of them act as independent controllers of CleanBreak data.
7. Your rights
Because CleanBreak is local-first and anonymous by design, we hold very little personal information to begin with:
- Access & deletion — your streak, journal, and check-ins live on your device; deleting the App deletes them.
- Withdraw consent — simply stop using Coach, Panic, or the Decoder at any time.
- Object / restrict — write to us at the email below.
Residents of California (CCPA/CPRA), the EEA, the UK, and other jurisdictions with comparable privacy laws have the same rights and may also lodge a complaint with their local data protection authority. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
8. Not a medical or crisis service
CleanBreak is a self-help and motivational tool. It is not a substitute for professional therapy, medical care, or a crisis service, and no human monitors your messages. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself or others, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), call 911, or contact the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233. These resources are always visible in the App and are never paywalled.
9. Children
CleanBreak is intended for adults only. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Security
AI payloads are transmitted over TLS. Local data is protected by standard iOS on-device storage protections. We cannot read your journal, check-ins, or Text-the-Void drafts — they never leave your device.
11. Changes
We will update this policy when we add new features that change what data we process. Material changes are surfaced in-app on your next launch. Continued use of the App after a change means you accept the updated policy.
12. Contact
Privacy questions, data requests, or anything else: support@802.software. We aim to respond within 30 days.
